The new Walmart Supercenter store is at the intersection of Whitesbridge Avenue and Goldenrod. The store is set to open at the end of August.
Construction started around three months ago and now they're looking to hire 300 employees.
"Wait for the person to get done and go to the next seat, it's like musical chairs without the music," said applicant, Robert Heather.
Applicants arrived at the new Walmart Supercenter hiring site in Kerman bright and early.
"I got five people in front of me, so I've probably got about another you know, 30 to 45 minutes," said Heather as he looks back and the line of applicants.
All of the applicants are waiting for a chance to apply for one of the 300 Walmart Supercenter positions.
It's a big deal for a small city with a population of around 13,000.
The stores need employees by the first week of July and they also encourage Veterans to apply.
"We're looking for your bakery associate, your meat associate, produce, overnight, cashier, supervisor,
department manager," said the new Supercenter Manager, Emilio Baca.
Baca worked his way up since he was 16-years-old and wants to be able to give others the same opportunity.
"They can come here and we'll be more than glad to meet with them and actually give them a computer where they can turn the application in," said Baca.
Local mayor and long-term owner of a family run grocery store in the city remains optimistic the new Supercenter will be a positive addition.
"Kerman has about 14% unemployment, so anytime that you can create that many jobs in a city, it's always good for a community," said Kerman Mayor, Gary Yep.
Residents welcome the opportunity and convenience they say the new Supercenter will bring.
"People are gonna come from Firebaugh, Mendota...everywhere. You know 'cause most people you have to go all the way to Fresno or Madera," said applicant, Veronica Larrondo.
The hiring site is located at 437 S. Madera Avenue in Kerman. It will be open from Monday through Friday, 8AM through 5PM. The site should remain open throughout the week for the next month.
