Guns drawn, MAGEC Officers shout into the home of an alleged gang member, wary of the unknown and conscious of a ticking clock.
"Give us about an hour, hour and a half and before like cockroaches they all just disappear," said Fresno County Sheriff’s Office Spokesman Chris Curtice.
More than fifty law enforcement officers, from various agencies, spanned out across south eastFresno County , all in hopes of cleaning up communities they say gangs are preying on.
“Actually there are more gang members per capita in the small communities than there are in the city of Fresno," said Curtice.
Less than two hours into the sweep two men pulled over by MAGEC officers are found with a large container of marijuana and just a few blocks over another arrest is made that leads to an unusual discovery.
"In searching one of them he was looking at a pen, there was something wrong with the pen and when he opened it up there was meth inside," said Curtice.
Beyond arresting gang members breaking the law, MAGEC Officers gather intelligence crucial to future investigations.
"Last week we may have done a subject check and this week he may have got a new tattoo. So we are going to take his picture again," said Curtice.
