Fire investigators believe 23-year-old Jeremy Chacon is responsible for a string of nine fires throughout a Pinedale neighborhood. Several homes where threatened.

"I mean it was bad.  Just fire coming out of the back," said resident, Hope Olivares.

Olivares lives near one of the nine arson attacks in the neighborhood. She's relieved after the series of fires plagued Pinedale for weeks.

"You never know, they could come over here to my house, or your house or anybody's house...and that's scary," said Olivares.

The fires popped up around the neighborhood in open lots and even a dumpster.
One of the fires destroyed a vacant home and threatened others nearby.
Fire investigators said they knew early on it was arson.

"We began to recognize a pattern," said Deputy Fire Marshal, Don MacAlpine.

With the help of a search warrant, police were able to link the suspect, Jeremy Chacon to the attacks. They arrested him at his home Wednesday morning.

"Video surveillance was very good as well as the cooperation of civilians with witness accounts, which was very helpful, as well as other articles we were able to gather from his [Chacon's] home," said Deputy Fire Marshal, Don MacAlpine.

One neighbor who lives across the street said he knows Chacon. He said Chacon is a nice guy. He watched Chacon get arrested and isn't sure what to believe.

"Just the kid, you know they say he's the one that built all the fires. I don't know," said Thomas Gongora, who lives right across from Chacon.

Chacon faces 12 charges of felony arson. If he's convicted he could face over 30 years in jail.

"I'm glad they caught the person.  I don't know who it is, but maybe now they'll think," said Olivares.
