As radio traffic fills the air, rotor blades twist and air one lifts off already headed to their first call of the night.
A string of police cars lead to a Fresno home surrounded by officers police think they may have cornered a suspected murderer but they are worried he might have slipped out the back door.
"We're looking not only in that primary yard but also adjacent yards in case this guy ran out the back of the primary residence,” said Air One Pilot Ken Schneider.
For pilots Ken Schneider and Larry Hustedde chasing bad guys one block at a time is nothing new, in fact it's become almost ordinary.
"We are flying three flights a night, five and half hours up in the air per shift, so we are very effective from up in the air," said Schneider.
On Thursday they found themselves in the middle of yet another police pursuit and this time they were the only thing standing between wanted parolee Kerry Binger and innocent bystanders.
"He attempted to apprehend a couple vehicles and because we were overhead without any units around we were able to get on our public address system and warn those vehicles to get away from him," said Schneider.
Hearing the warning from above drivers backed away and police were able to arrest binger...only the latest in a string of criminals to be busted from above.
