There was a drive-by shooting near a Fresno elementary school early Monday morning.

The shooting happened are 7:30 a.m. at Florence and Bardell, near Fig and Church Avenues in Southwest Fresno.

One man was wounded in the shooting and was transported to the hospital for treatment. He is expected to survive.

Nearby King Elementary School was locked down briefly while police secured the area.

Police also believed an empty school bus was hit by a bullet but after investigating, it turned out to just be a rock.

Sgt. Tim Hahn with the Fresno Police Department said, "The school did a good job, they locked down the school right away. There are a few kids who show up early. The majority of the kids didn't start coming to the school until after that. We did have officers on the scene when the majority of the kids were heading to school this morning."

The suspect was driving a black Chevy Impala. Police say there were four people inside the car.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Fresno Police Department.
