The Fresno Police Officers Association says it's making $8 million in concessions to the City of Fresno.
The union claims the concessions will go a long way towards solving Fresno's budget crisis.
FPOA's contract is not currently open; that won't happen for a couple years, so police are under no obligation to concede anything.
FPOA also wanted to make it clear that it's not here to negotiate, but members worked out the $8.3 million offer anyway.
The concessions means less money for officers, and could impact their benefits.
FPOA President Jacky Parks said, "My officers are leaving. They're leaving because there's no advancement here. It's stale and they're leaving because of the doom and gloom that has been painted by our city manager and our mayor. So they're leaving to go to other agencies because they're more stable, they're recovered already and they want that stability for their family."
FPOA is asking for a contract extension with the city to 2017.
Council members are expected to review the offer and we expect a response by the end of the day.
