A suspect is in custody after he barricaded himself inside a home and set the home on fire, according to authorities.

It happened near 17th and Alkali on tribal land near the Tachi Palace Casino and Hotel.

Kings County Sheriffs deputies were called to the home around 4:30 Wednesday afternoon after the suspect, Brian Resendez, allegedly fired a shot at Tribal police.

Authorities say Resendez had been arrested Monday and Tuesday when he appeared to be under the influence of drugs. And that he resisted arrest both times.

Resendez was free on bail.

Because of the recent arrests the Kings County SWAT team was called out to Resendez's home Wednesday afternoon.

When deputies tried to contact Resendez, they say he barricaded himself in his house and set the second floor of the home on fire.

Tear gas was fired into the house.

Resendez eventually surrendered. He was taken to the hospital for treatment of burns. And will face numerous charges.

While firefighters put out the fire at the house, authorities say they were pelted with rocks by people at the scene. Deputies had to provide protection for the firefighters.

Deputies planned to serve a search warrant at the home to locate the gun used to fire at the tribal officers.
