Fresno Police say the hunt for a wanted gang member lead them to an apartment complex just off Cedar Avenue Sunday afternoon. What happened next is still under investigation but police say 23-year old Keith Brazil might have realized he was being followed when he jumped a median with his sedan, crashing into a car traveling the opposite direction.
"He spun out onto the median island, our officers approached him and we are not certain as to what transpired at that point but one of our officers fired on round strikingBrazil ," said Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer.
Police say that same round passed throughBrazil 's hand and hit a passenger in the car he was driving, both were taken to the hospital along with the driver of the car they hit. All three remain in stable condition.
"We heard a loud bang that sounded like a loud gunshot and then we heard some squealing tires," said neighbor James Scrabeck.
For neighbors nearby when it all happened, it was a rude awakening they won't soon forget. Police are still searching forBrazil ’s alleged accomplice, 22-year old Aaron Jones. Brazil and Jones are suspects in the shooting of a rival gang member, Desmond George earlier this month.
