As the dust kicks up and the cowboys fly high, it's easy to miss what's happening all around.
For over forty boy scouts, a ticket to the Clovis Rodeo means their ticket to summer camp is paid for. Each year the boy scouts typically raise close to twenty thousand dollars working concessions, a large sum that makes all the difference.
"It's invaluable. This is there way to earn to go to camp, we don't have to do any other fundraisers, we don't have to do any other events that take away from the boy scouting things that they work on,” said Boy Scouts assistant troop master Alison Moon.
Outside the grounds in Old Town Clovis, extra foot traffic means thousands in extra revenue.
"From the bars to the restaurants to even the retail vendors down here, it's a big deal," said 500 Club bartender Kristopher Williams.
All through Old Town Clovis bars and restaurants filled with people just leaving the rodeo, providing a welcome boost in business for the 500 club.
"It's like six times what a normal night would be. So it definitely makes a bartender smile down here," said Williams.
