Fire crews were called to an office building fire in downtown Fresno Thursday night.
The fire happened around 6:30 p.m. at the Patterson Building at Tulare & Fulton.
The fire was located in an office trash can on the 5th floor of the building and caused minimal damage, but the sprinklers came on causing even more damage.
Justin Moore with the Fresno Fire Department said, "Fire damage was confined to a trash can located in on of the offices so the significant amount of damage caused to the building and the contents was caused by water due to the sprinkler head activating."
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
