Valley lawmaker warn against jumping to conclusions following the deadly bombings at the Boston Marathon on Monday.
Congressman Devin Nunes, who is on the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, talked to CBS47 following the tragedy. "Obviously the last thing that I want to see serving on the intelligence committee is somebody getting killed, which happened today. That's why we spend billions of dollars to try to prevent this," said Nunes.
Meanwhile, Valley Congressman Jim Costa says the attack is a disturbing wake up call for the nation. "It reminds us once again how vulnerable we all are and no matter how great of effort we make to protect our citizens from any of these kinds of attacks, there are limitations," said Costa.
CBS47 also talked to newly elected Valley Congressman David Valadao, who says unfortunately large crowds can present a target for terrorists. "Obviously it's a scary time with things like this happening at an event where it's really for no good reason other than there's a large crowd of people," said Valadao.
All of the Congressmen said their prayers go out to the families impacted by the tragedy.
Congressmen Nunes says he will learn more about the tragedy during Tuesday's intelligence briefing and in the meantime, he cautioned against jumping to conclusions. "The bottom line is we have to be careful. Normally when something like this happens, the first few reports are wrong," said Nunes.
As of late Monday, Nunes could not confirm any official word on that Saudi national who is reportedly being questioned in connection with the attack.
