A family was forced from their home overnight when their home caught fire around 2:00 a.m. Fortunately someone woke up and smelled smoke because there were no working smoke detectors in the home.
The fire was at a house on Ball Avenue near Cedar and Belmont.
There is heavy damage to the attic but most of the belongings were salvaged.
The eight people in the home got out safely and are working with the Red Cross for shelter.
There is no word yet what caused the fire.
One firefighter had to be treated for minor breathing problems.
