FresnoState’s women’s basketball team is on its way to the big dance.  Today the Bulldogs had their final practice in the North Gym on campus.  They loaded onto a bus for the first leg of their trip to Lubbock, Texas.  It’s the sixth year in a row the Bulldogs are playing in the NCAA Tournament.

After high fiving a loyal fan, Bulldog basketball players boarded the bus.  Their final destination is the NCAA Tournament in Lubbock, Texas.

The volleyball team and boosters give the Bulldogs a special sendoff.

“Just to be apart of this again, I mean, this is what everyone dreams of growing up.  Just to be a part of it, it's just like, unreal,” said player Ki-Ki Moore.

After winning their sixth consecutive conference championship last week, the team has substantial experience at the big dance.  Now it needs its first win on a grand stage.  The first opponent is Cal.

“I think our girls have some confidence going into this game because we know that we absolutely can compete with Pac 12.  Our conference is a good conference,” said head coach Raegan Pebley.

A longtime booster and fan, Dan Bushey, says expectations have changed over the years.  The team hasn't faltered, even with new leadership this season.

“Originally it started off just having a winning season.  Then the goal was to actually get a championship.  Well they've had five or six of those in a row.  Then it was to get to the tournament.  Now it's to actually win when they get to the tournament,” said Bushey.

Players would love for this to be their year to get it done.

“Not just excited to go, we want to get our win there.  So I hope Cal doesn't overlook us ‘cause we're not overlooking them,” said player Taylor Thompson.

FresnoState is seeded 15th.  Cal is seeded second.  Bulldog fans are hopeful because the team lose a close game to Stanford earlier this season, which is the number one seed.

The game is Saturday, March 23 at 1:20pm.  Fans can watch on ESPN2.
