Fresno County District Attorney Elizabeth Egan held a new conference Tuesday morning to announce charges have been filed in the death of an 18-year-old Fresno State student.

The fraternity pledge, Philip Dhanens, died from alcohol poisoning.

The District Attorney stood with Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer and the parents of Philip Dhanens, sending a clear message that providing alcohol to underage students and hazing will not be tolerated in Fresno.

Egan says the three men being charged were all organizers of the party on August 30th at the Theta Chi fraternity house.

The suspects are 28-year-old Leonard Serrato, 24-year-old Aaron Raymo, and 22-year-old Daniel Baker.

Two of the suspects are accused of purchasing the alcohol for the party and the third was the fraternity president, but all three were in charge that night.

Misdemeanor charges were filed for providing alcohol to minors and hazing, which led to the death of the freshman student.

According to court documents, the pledges were taken off-campus for initiation and told they couldn't leave until they finished several bottles of liquor.

Dhanens passed out and was taken to Saint Agnes Hospital where he had a blood alcohol level of at least .40.

The fraternity has since been shut down.
