Neighbors and loved ones of Roberto Briseno comfort each other and try to figure out how and why the 33-year-old was gunned down on Sunday night.  It happened after Briseno saw someone breaking into his neighbor's car.  Idalia Martinez said Briseno knocked on the door to tell them about the car.

"He's like, 'Yeah they were breaking into your car.  The guy was already in there and I pulled him out and we started fighting.'  And he was bleeding from the back of his head," said Martinez.

After he left, Martinez heard gunshots.  The suspects had apparently come back.

"I ran to him to see if he was ok but he was just whining.  I tried to get him up and called 9-1-1," said Martinez.

Neighbors say Briseno was friendly and helpful.  He was well-known around the block.

"He was the type of guy who would stand up and help an individual, like he did the night he was killed," said Kenny Brown, a neighbor.

Briseno's murder is one of two Fresno police are investigating from Sunday night.  The other murder happened at a home on Hedges and Poplar.  Several bullets went through a screen door, killing 35-year-old Omar Silva.  Police say his brother, who wasn't home, was the intended target.

"Both of these incidents are not your traditional gang type shootings where there is a drive-by shooting based on some type of a gang feud," said Jerry Dyer, Chief of Police.

Suspects in both cases are outstanding.  In Briseno's case, the suspect vehicle is an older, small, white car.  In Silva's case, video evidence is providing a lot of clues to investigators.  If you have any information, call 621-7000.
