A police officer fires his gun after a violent struggle with a suspect on drugs.
" I looked out the window when I was eating and hear a boom," Mario Pacheco said.
Police say the suspect's sister called the cops complaining about her 34 year old brother being high on meth.
When the officer tried to arrest the suspect, the two got into a physical fight..
"Very shocking to hear what happened," said one nighbor.
The officer pepper sprayed the suspect and that's when the sister noticed her brother on the police officer's back, choking him, and trying to remove the gun from the holster.
"At that time the sister jumped on her brothers back and bit him in the arm and began strking him in order to help the officer and prevent the gun from being removed from the holster completely," Pat Farmer, Fresno Police said.
Police say the suspect tried to attack the officer again, forcing the officer to shoot him.
The suspect was transported to the hospital where he later died.
Neihbor's say more should be done to tackle drug related problems.
"We have a drug problem in Fresno, we need a better training for the police force to handle people like that," said Arvin Mahal.
Neighbors and police credit the suspect's sister for her quick thinking.
"If she saved an officers life, that's even better cause it could've been worse," said on neighbor.
