They say these health cuts affect people who are most vulnerable right here in the Valley.
“So that would be children, families, single parents, people with disabilities and seniors,” said Rosa Auguste with Health Access
While the Governor Brown says a lot of the cuts are difficult, it’s a step forward to pulling the state out of debt.
“Right now for the next four years, we're talking about a balanced budget. We're talking about living within our means,” said Governor Brown.
Assemblyman, Henry T. Perea says there’s a silver-lining in the budget proposal. The 27 million dollars that will go to fund the Fresno Redding and Veterans Homes.
“This is the first time the home is fully funded and I'm excited about that. We'll begin hiring folks this year,” said Perea.
Perea and local vets like, Charlie Waters remain optimistic this is what they need to get the project off the ground. Waters states, “We did what we had to do to build it, and we’re going to do what we have to do to open it.”
