Early snow helping water supply

Recent storms have state water managers optimistic about California's water supply.

The rain has replenished many of the state's low reservoirs and the snowpack is almost 150% of normal for this time of year.

Maury Roos, chief hydrologist at the California Department of Water Resources said, "It looks very good. We know we've got at least a partial supply already in the bank, either in reservoir storage or in snowpack. However, it still depends on the remainder of the season, and about two-thirds of the wet season is still left."

Snowpack runoff normally provides California with about a third of its water supply.
