The FresnoCounty coroner confirms that the man killed Tuesday night near Selma, died from dog bites.  A woman found the victim in her yard and called the sheriff's department.

The incident happened on Highland Avenue near Mountain View around 7pm.  A total of twelve dogs are at Liberty Animal Control in Fresno.  They were picked up last night at the owner's home. Deputies say some of the dogs had blood on them.

CBS47 saw the dogs Wednesday.  Four are large pit bull mixes.  There is one medium sized Chihuahua mix and seven 8-10 week old puppies.  Animal control says the dog’s owner signed all of the dogs over and won't be getting any of them back.

For now the dogs are being held as evidence in the death of a 34-year-old Hispanic man.

"They have what they call a pack mentality.  One dog is going and the others will gather in and it can get ugly.  In a case like this, I know the adult dogs will not be adopted out," said Daniel Bailey, an animal control officer.

An autopsy was performed on the victim Wednesday.  Toxicology results aren't back yet however, the dog bites are named as the cause of his death.  The man's name has not been released because deputies are still trying to find his family.  No word yet on whether or not the dog’s owner will face charges.
