In a surprise confession in court on Thursday, Keith Beyer says he killed his wife, Sandra in Sanger over the weekend.
34-year-old Keith Beyer told the judge, "I took my wife's life and I am accepting full responsibility."
Police found Sandra Beyer's body in the couple's Sanger apartment on Sunday and Keith Beyer made arrangements to be arrested in the Shaver Lake area on Monday.
Beyer's attorney, Scott Baly, said the confession even took him by surprise. "My advise is not to make a statement and speak through your attorney and the judge gave him the same advice. But he wanted to make that statement and he was able to speak," said Baly.
Beyer will remain in the Fresno County Jail until his sentencing.
